Abstrak
Puppet (wayang) stories contain various abilities and powerful equipments. Such things are regarded as mere delusions and illusions. If explored depthly, it could be that these supernatural powers can be realized with technology and science nowadays. A magical equipment from a puppet story that will be discussed in this article is Cupu Manik Astagina. Cupu Manik, in the Ramayana, is told to be a gift from Batara Surya to Dewi Indradi, the wife of Rishi Gotama. The grandeur of Cupu Manik is that it can be used to see the entire beauty of the universe (marcapada and swargaloka). I observe the similarities between The Cupu Manik and gadgets, especially smartphone, today. As well as Cupu Manik, smartphone can also be used to see the world through a small tool. The comparison between Cupu Manik and smartphone will be reviewed and reflected descriptively through a literature study from a philosophical perspective. The literature sources used are the sources of puppet stories and "Serat Wedharaning Cupu Manik Astagina". By this comparison, Javanese philosophy is expected to provide a reflective response to technological developments in this era.
